Pronounced “kook kook,” this modern healthy eatery is staying true to one thing, fresh food made daily. This funky space is a former Subway (yes, the sandwich shop) but you’d never know because it’s now totally insta-worthy; think chevron tables, tiled floors, and so much natural light! Located in the affluential Yonge-Eglinton neighbourhood, the aim was to cater to busy families and their varying dietary needs. While they cater beyond this demographic, you will find options for gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan individuals for dine-in and take-out. Also, you can pre-order family-sized meals to save you time in the kitchen on those busy weeknights.
The menu is compact, but I’m kind of into it. Lengthy menus can be daunting and I am indecisive as it is. Leave me with only a couple options and I am better off. Most dishes come with a gluten-free option, unless it is already naturally gluten-free (I was eyeing that avo toast right away). Breakfast, lunch or dinner (coffee, tea, wine or cocktail) service is offered, so pick your poison! If you’re a sucker for puns, like me, then you’ll appreciate the menu. I recommend the Obi Wan Bulgogi: korean BBQ steak (with GF tamari), black rice, purple cabbage, roasted broccolini, house-made kimchi, avocado, basil, green onions, poached egg.
Also, yes to a protein toast: avocado, cherry tomatoes, and pea sprouts. It’s the perfect for a breakfast or snack!
