I adore this time of year! The weeks leading up to Christmas are filled with so much love, fun and cheer. I get excited about the festivities, cozy (and ugly) sweaters, holiday beverages, and of course, the treats! There are endless Christmas cookies being passed around, holiday-only chocolates & candies, and hors d’oeuvres galore. While I love entertaining, I like to spend less time in the kitchen and more time with family and friends this time of year.
One of my favourite places to pick up the goods (because let’s get real, I am not patient enough for baking and I’d rather leave it to the pros), is Defloured. Everything is gluten-free and they specialize in gluten-free pastry: pies, quiches, tarts, and squares. They make hosting so much easier with their great selection of both sweet and savoury gluten-free goods. This time of year they bring out the big guns and step up their offerings with mince meat pies (sans suet), chicken, beef & tourtiere personal pot pies, mini hand pies, turnovers, and pot pies (perfect for holiday parties), ginger cookies (MY FAVE), and macaroons. The usual suspects such as quiche, savoury tarts and galettes are all still available and make for a great Christmas brunch, easy dinner option.
